This really is a VERY special wine. 1997 was an exceptional year for Sauternes and this wine shows it. We may well never get a vintage like this one again.

Chateau Rieussec was ranked as a First Growth Premier Cru (1er-Cru) in Bordeaux' famed 1855 Classification of the Medoc and they produce is one of the richest and most opulent in the appellation. Very fruity, revealing notes of sweet spices and vanilla, it is a remarkably complex wine.

Robert Parker says: 'The wine is light medium gold-colored, with a blockbuster nose of Grand Marnier liqueur intertwined with flower blossoms, smoky new oak, and coconut. Well-integrated wood has resulted in a seamless, full-bodied, unctuously-textured wine with considerable sweetness. This is a stunningly proportioned, beautifully pure wine.'
